Ride for Hope Africa 2019 Day by Day (2770 KM)
The next tour will happen from 9th till 24th of March 2019 in South Africa, Swaziland and Lesotho.
We will start in Johannesburg, go north, along the Kruger National Park into Swaziland, then further south to Lesotho and back up to Johannesburg.
Day 1: Arrival, Checking of Equipment, meet & greet, briefing
Day 2: Opening Event: At CarePoint and church in the evening!??
Day 3. (350Km estimated 6hours or driving): We start our trip in Joburg and drive towards Hartbeespoort Dam. From there we carry on to Brits and on country roads to Jericho and Sephai around Borakalalo National Park further north. We drive further north via Rooiberg and pass Marakela National Park on the western side. We eventually hit the R517 and turn east till we turn off to the Matamba Bush Campsite where we will spend the night.
Day 4. (380KM estimated 6 hours of driving) From our campsite we first go south and then back up in north-east direction till we hit the R518. We stay on the R518 till we get to Mokopane. From there we go on small roads through Percy Fyve Nature Reserve in direction north-east till we get to Polokwane. From there we carry on on the R71 till Mankweng. There we turn off, go on small roads to and then through the Woodbush Forest Reserve until we hit the R71 again we continue with that road through Tzaneen unti we get to Letsitele where we turn off on Palaborwa Gyiani until we get to Eiland Spa & Resort where we will spend the night.
Day 5 (320KM estimated 4,5 hours driving plus sightseeing): We start on gravel road towards Phalaborwa, from there we head south to visit the “Three Rondavels”, Bourke Potholes and God’s Window viewpoints. The day ends in Dreamfields Guesthouse in Hazyview.
Day 6: We do a guided day trip safari into kruger park national park. We spend another night in the Dreamfields Guesthouse.
Day 7 (291KM estimated 5 hours driving): We drive from Hazyview down to Barberton and on the R40 towards Bulembu border post where we enter Swaziland. We drive via Piggs peak on the MR2, MR5 and MR 3 to our Christ’s Hope Center in Setiki, Swaziland. That is also where we will sleep.
Day 8: We spend the day at the Christ’s Hope CarePoint in Siteki, Swaziland and get to know the ministry, the staff and the children in the center.
Day 9 (223KM estimated 5 hours driving): From Siteki we work our way on gravel roads out of Swaziland towards Piet Retief. We cross the border at Emahltini Border Post and sleep that night at Waterside Lodge in Piet Retief.
Day 10 (314KM estimated 5 hours of driving) We drive south from Piet Retief on country roads via Luneburg and Utrecht to Dundee where we hit the R602 and the N11 that leads us through Ladysmith to Spioenkop Nature reserve campsite where we will spend the night.
Day 11 (195KM estimated 4 hours of driving) From Spioenkop Nature Reserve we drive south via Winterton on small roads along the Maloti Drakensberg Park towards the bottom of Sani Pass where we sleep at Sani Lodge Backpackers.
Day 12 (303KM estimated 6 hours of driving): We start the day at Sani Lodge Backpackers and drive up Sani Pass. Once we made it to the top, we will have Brunch at the highest pup in Africa at Sani Mountain Lodge before continuing our trip through the beautiful landscape of Lesothto to the Calendonspoort Border Post. From there we drive to Fouriesburg, to Clarens into the Golden Gate Highlands National Park where we will spend the night at Glen Reenen Campsite.
Day 13: This day we will spend in the Golden Gate National Park and enjoy the scenery.
Day 14 (364KM estimated 4,5 hours of driving): We start of driving north east through the national park and head north towards Johannesburg. We will drive on good country roads passing a couple of small towns on the way back to Jo-Burg
Day 15: Day of Sorting out Equipment, return of rentals, debriefing
Day 16: Closing Event:
